Once upon a time,...

Standing in the middle of the Street. Again!

..I stood in the middle of the street as a very vocal national defender and leader for and with transgender American veterans. I've travelled the nation to meet them and hear them where they live work and play. I've met them at VA facilities around the country. Had breakfast and lunch with them and often their caregivers, families, supporters, and defenders. I've fought for them to get better dignified care in their communities and through the VA.

But, today we face a national disgrace perpetuated against some of America's most talented, strong, and resilient people - our transgender veterans. Road blocks are being created to deny us our official identities. New passports will no longer recognize us for who we are or how we wish to be identified making our lives much more difficult, dangerous, and limiting. Trump's government has removed all references to words like transgender, gender identity, gender, non-binary, and everything to do with them from identities, to healthcare, and to research. All while also saying that transgender identities aren't scientifically based but instead are immoral, dishonest, and deceptive. But how would anyone ever know since research into these identities and their origins and health needs is now banned as well.

So, I'm pissed and filled with righteous anger that I did not do more to prepare my friends and fellow veterans for what I knew was coming. I did try, but I didn't try hard enough. Well, I'm back and you may not like this new Cassandra. I will be blunt, not PC, and as a friend from flyover country said, I will call balls and strikes as they are.

I'm starting my own livestreaming show this week. I don't know about you but I'm pissed and angry that my fellow veterans and fellow American citizens have been erased by the Trump administration.
