New VA Policy Sparks Fears of Discrimination Against Minority Veterans
The Unseen Wounds of Discrimination In the VA
For many veterans, the scars of service are not always visible. Racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual minority veterans already navigate unique challenges, both during their time in the military and upon returning to civilian life. These challenges can include experiences of discrimination, microaggressions, and systemic inequities that impact their mental and physical well-being. The removal of these anti-discrimination safeguards within the VA system could exacerbate these vulnerabilities.
Who is Most Vulnerable?
LGBTQ+ Veterans: The reported removal of "sexual orientation" from staffing non-discrimination policies creates a precarious situation. LGBTQ+ veterans, particularly transgender individuals seeking gender-affirming care, may face the risk of being denied services or encountering hostile environments.
Female Veterans: With a growing number of women serving, the potential for discrimination based on marital status is deeply concerning. Unmarried female veterans could face unwarranted barriers to healthcare simply because of their relationship status.
Racial and Ethnic Minority Veterans: While race remains a protected category, the removal of "national origin" protections is troubling. Coupled with reports of the VA closing its Office of Equity Assurance, this move suggests a potential weakening of efforts to address the long-standing racial disparities in veteran care and benefits. Black veterans and other veterans of color have historically faced systemic disadvantages, and this policy shift could further entrench these inequalities.
Veterans in Rural Areas: For veterans in rural communities, VA facilities often represent the only accessible healthcare option. The potential for denied care based on newly unprotected categories leaves these individuals with nowhere else to turn.
The VA's Transgender Care Underground
It's sad that our providers must hide to provide the care we have earned. That's what I'm hearing from sources across VA. If you're a VA provider who is part of the unofficial Transgender Care Underground, thank you. Please go here to register using your NON-VA email address. And share this link with other staff. Remind them to use their NON-VA Non-governmental email address. https://www.cassandra-llc.com/pricing-plans/list

The War between Israel and Iran
I support Israel in it's war against the current Islamic Regime in Iran. Iran can not obtain a nuclear weapon. Why? They will use it almost immediately on Israel and US assets in the region. It's an ideological thing, a deep seated religious issue, for the current leaders on Iran.
