Trans Veteran suffering PTSD episode, walks drunk, suicidal, and belligerent into a VA...; and, Overplayed the LGBTQ+ card.

Updated: Mar 15

An anonymous veteran friend called last night. She told me about her experience at a Veterans Affairs Medical Facility recently. She is what the VA calls, 70% disabled for PTSD. Yes! She was drunk, suicidal, and belligerent at the time she walked into the VA seeking help. When the male nurses asked her to disrobe in their presence, she refused and things quickly got out of hand. VA Police quickly became involved, as they rightly should, and she was put into a four point restraint. In the course of restraining her, she injured a VA nurse and police person, but she was also injured with scrapes and bruises on her elbow. According to her, they pulled her clothes down and did not cover her for some time all while also making inappropriate comments. She was charged with three felonies, and as she told me, she's also transgender.

The Path Forward - don't go the VA when you have PTSD, get drunk, become belligerent, and are trans. You could walk out with some felonies. You would also likely become cannon fodder for rightwing hate mongers if you did not address it quickly and appropriately, which she is doing.

The Democrats have indeed overplayed the LGBTQ+ card, but to back down now would be to further disenfranchise a small minority population and would be used to show that the democrats are willing to cast aside some in favor of regaining power. Not a good look at all. Drag queen story hours also made things worse. Those "trans" people who take their tops off at the White House, or who still have their 'junk' and feel the need to disrobe in women's locker rooms and bathrooms completely disrespecting women's spaces are also a big part of the problem.

Trump's attacks on transgender Americans are nothing new though. The entire spectrum of LGBTQ+ people has been under attack for many decades. It is Alan Turing in England and the Lavender Scare in the 1950s in the US all over again. It will lead to a lavender-nacht worldwide in a grizzly replay of November of 1938 in Germany.

Today, it's the Alliance Defending Freedom, The Heritage Foundation, the Family Research Council, and many other organizations that carry on the animus toward transgender, gay, and lesbian Americans. They have never wanted us to be seen or heard from. All of them want to erase us and deny our existence. Our existence is an affront to their ideologies, their religions, and their ideals of the binary man or woman and family as if they alone are the sole arbiters of those things.

Transgender Americans are an affront to their sense of masculinity, godliness, family, and country. Transgender women are especially evil in their eyes. One representative in the Texas State House recently filed a bill (which will likely not go anywhere this year) to make it a felony to claim an official identity other than that given on your original birth certificate. The bill seeks to put you in jail for up to two years and fine you $10,000 for "Gender Identity Fraud".

Why can't Trump leave us alone? It's who he is. He needs a small, marginalized group of people to focus the flames of anger and hatred toward, to rally his troops around. Transgender Americans are easy targets because he sees us as weak and ineffectual, because we are few and powerless to stop him, and we are in his eyes and those of his acolytes 'not normal'.

Then there are the myopic 'pink triangle' LGB Americans. They have misappropriated the 'pink triangle' used by the Nazis to identify gay, lesbian, and trans people for extermination. It was a symbol of shame.  When the LGBTQ+ community deliberately chose to appropriate the pink triangle, they dishonored the lost lives of the Holocaust - Jews and other Nazi identified undesirables.

Of course, Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense, and his ad people would turn the pink triangle into an Army recruiting program.
