I am deeply saddened by the horrific act of violence that unfolded at the Minneapolis Annunciation Catholic Church and School this morning. The news of such a tragic event has left me in a state of disbelief and sorrow. It is impossible to fully comprehend the profound pain and anguish that the families directly affected by this tragedy, as well as the broader community surrounding that church, must be experiencing right now. The innocent lives that were touched by this violence, particularly the two children who lost their lives and the 17 other children and adults who were wounded, are constantly in my thoughts today. Each of these individuals represents a world of potential and dreams cut short or irrevocably altered, and my heart aches for them and their loved ones.

In moments like these, when such senseless acts of violence occur, my mind instinctively turns to my own family—my four beloved children and my eight cherished grandchildren. The love I have for them is immeasurable, and the thought of any harm coming to them is utterly unbearable. The actions of the shooter in this tragic incident were nothing short of pure evil, a manifestation of a darkness that seems to be creeping into our society, affecting innocent lives without warning or reason. It is a grim reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictable nature of human behavior, leaving us all to grapple with feelings of vulnerability and fear.

As I reflect on the events that have transpired today, I cannot begin to imagine the depth of despair and heartache that the parents and grandparents in Minneapolis must feel after losing their loved ones. The void left by such a loss is unfathomable, and the grief that envelops a family in the wake of tragedy is a burden that can be overwhelming. The community will undoubtedly come together to support one another, but the scars of this day will linger for a long time, reminding everyone of the fragility of life and the need for compassion and understanding in times of crisis.

In response to this tragedy, Will Cain on Fox News, during his show 'The Will Cain Show,' has made a pointed call for a society-wide re-evaluation regarding the treatments for gender dysphoria. His stance raises important questions about how we approach mental health and the support systems available for individuals struggling with their identities. It is crucial that we engage in open and honest discussions about these issues, as they are intertwined with the larger narrative of violence in our society. We must seek to understand the complexities of mental health while also prioritizing the safety and well-being of our communities. This tragedy serves as a wake-up call for us all to reflect on the values we hold and the actions we must take to foster a safer, more compassionate society.

Thank you for your heartfelt an insightful post. I have not commented in some time since I felt my position might seem cold, insensitive and counterproductive. (I even commented on this to my husband.) I have found recommendations on this platform to resist various actions that may appear to "target" transgender Americans as well as others in the LBGTQ+ community as counterproductive. Period. More often, such REaction gets you nothing but more anger and frustration and moves you father from your endgame. As you seem to state here, the need is to work WITH the power structure and NOT against it. And that extends beyond this tragedy. (DC Mayor Muriel Bowser does this quite well.) I see it as the…
